The capability allows users to communicate with emergency services when out of range of traditional cellular connectivity. iOS 18 <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2024\/06\/10\/dont-have-a-connection-ios-18-lets-you-send-messages-with-your-iphone-over-satellite\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">further upgraded the functionality<\/a> to let users send messages to friends and family using satellite connectivity. <\/p>\n<p>Apple initially partnered with Globalstar to power these satellite connectivity features for iPhone users.
